0)Syesha Mercado was the second person to perform tonight. She chose the song, “I Believe” by Fantasia. It appeared on the album, Free Yourself, which was released on November 23, 2004.
Randy gave Syesha credit. He didn’t feel she had the connection that Fantasia had when she sang it. Paula thought she made it all her own and it was one of her shining nights. Simon thought she sang it very well but it lacked the wave of emotion that Fantasia had when she sang it.

0)Syesha Mercado was the second to last person to take the stage tonight. She chose the song, “I Will Always Love You” off of the Dolly album, Jolene. Whitney Houston also sang this song in the movie, The Bodyguard from 1992. It starred Whitney along with Kevin Costner.
Syesha kept the song very simple and mixed Dolly and Whitney’s versions in together to make a unique performance.
Randy felt she did pretty good. Paula told her she looked beautiful too. She thinks Syesha is growing and connecting with the audience. Simon, well Simon, wished she hadn’t sang it. He felt the first part was good but the second paled in comparison to Whitney’s version. *Shakes head*

0)The third contestant to take the state was Syesha Mercado singing the 1987 Stephanie Mills song, “If I Were Your Woman”. The crowd cheered loudly as Syesha hit the high notes. Randy thought it was the best he’s ever heard her sing and that includes her audition. Shocked and loving it! Blazing hot! Paula told her what is great about that performance was that this was the moment when everyone will remember when Syesha flipped it and became the dark horse that will sail on through. Her upper register and lower was pitch perfect. Brilliant! Simon said it was definitely the best so far. He didn’t feel the end part was as good as randy thought. He thinks there is a limit to her vocal. Paula made sure to say she disagreed with him. Ryan commented on Paula smiling when Syesha started singing. Paula said she knew she was in her zone and creating magic on that center spot.
