Kristy Lee Cook Sings “Forever”

Tonight Kristy Lee Cook chose the song “Forever” that appeared on the Mariah Carey album Daydream.

Mariah enjoyed Kristy choosing the song she did because not many people know it. Kristy gave Mariah goosebumps.

Randy that it was amazing but that there were a couple of pitchy parts at the beginning. He felt she stepped it up at the end though. Paula was blown away. She loved the arrangement the most. She felt she would have a hit with it in the country western world. She was proud of her. Simon told her that she didn’t give him chills like she did Mariah. He felt it was a bit whiny at times. He thought she was smart but it wasn’t great.

Kristy Lee Cook Sings “Anyway”

Kristy Lee Cook performed fourth tonight. She chose to stick to her genre of choice by singing the Martina McBride song, “Anyway” which appeared on the album, Waking Up Laughing.

Randy felt there were a couple pitch problems but he loved it. Paula thought she outdid herself. Her best performance by far. Excellent! Simon thought she was very, very good. He felt she looked like a star tonight and that it was a good song choice.

Kristy Lee Cook Sings “Coat of Many Colors”

After David took the stage it was Kristy Lee Cook’s turn to wow the crowd. She chose the song, “Coat of Many Colors” off of the Dolly album by the same name.

Randy felt she gave a good performance. Paula told her she looked stunning. Simon thought the performance was pleasant but forgettable. Simon seems VERY hard to please tonight.

Kristy Lee Cook Sings “God Bless the USA”

The second to last person to perform tonight was Kristy Lee Cook singing the 1984 Lee Greenwood song, “God Bless the USA.” Randy said it was a great song choice and other then a few pitchy spots in the middle he thought it was a very nice performance. Paula said it was a very poignant and respectful song. Paula told Kristy that she wants to see better performances from her. She did say that Kristy’s voice is getting stronger though. Simon said it was her best performance by a mile. He thought it was the most clever song choice he’s heard in years. Lee Greenwood was a brilliant writer. Brilliant song. Overall good performance and that will keep her in the competition.
