David Cook was the fifth performer this evening with his song of choice, “Innocent” by Our Lady Peace. It appeared on the album, A Decade which was released on November 28, 2006.
David wrote on his hand “Give Back.”
Randy didn’t feel it was one of his strongest weeks. Paula thinks he’s the whole package. Simon didn’t like the performance all that much. He felt it was a bit pompous.

ICK!
David left me in tears. I am going to post this on youtube as well when they get the vid up. This was a good performance for me. Granted his vocals were not as strong as they were in previous performances, but I don’t think this song was about that exactly. Everyone knows David has the voice, and the range, but I think he wanted to show off his passion. I felt his heart in this song. My Mother had Cancer, and often I needed an escape from the pain. Especially when she passed away. Instead of running from the pain, I used it. I used it and surrendered to those feelings. David is not hiding from what has been touching him in his life. He’s using the emotions. He’s putting it all into his craft. David’s craft is his music. I just hope that America sees what I saw in this performance. We already know he can sing, and that he has the range to take on any song. I think this song showed off his heart. I was genuinely touched.
I agree with you. I think David Cook is real. He is what you see. If you only compare his performance this week to his previous performances, he wasn’t quite as amazing. But compared to the other contestants, he is still by far the best singer and performer.
I agree with both of you. He is a very special person…and still number one!
Go David Cook!
